Myth 16: If a person knows probability theory, he/she can become a millionaire by participating in lotteries.

Truth 16
A common belief is that quantifying uncertainty of a phenomenon is equivalent to predicting it. A probabilist can compute the probability of winning in a game of chance, but that does not mean he/she will be capable of predicting the result with complete certainty. It is interesting to note that casinos use the services of probabilists for the analysis of games of chance and to detect situations that may probabilistically put the house at a disadvantage.
